Art Spiegelman, author of Maus, brings us his moving and masterful account of the events of 9/11/2001 and its aftermath in this collection of comics. He and his family bore witness to the attacks from their lower Manhattan neighborhood, and felt the ripples of the aftermath as he watched how it was handled. In an oversized, two-page-spread format that echoes the scale of the earliest newspaper comics, he relates his experience of the national tragedy in drawings and text that convey the unfathomable enormity of the event itself, the obvious and insidious side effects, and the extraordinary, often hidden changes that have been enacted in the name of post-9/11 democracy.
